Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation in Inverness

Physiotherapy for pain, injury, movement difficulties and rehabilitation, including sports injuries, recovery after surgery and lower-limb problems.

General physiotherapy Sports injuries Post-surgery rehabilitation Knee & lower limb

Start with a clear assessment

Physiotherapy built around what you need to get back to

The first step is understanding the problem, how it is affecting you and what recovery needs to achieve. Treatment and rehabilitation are then matched to the findings rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.

Injury or recurring pain

For sports, exercise or activity-related problems that are limiting training, walking, work or day-to-day function.

Recovery after surgery

Structured rehabilitation after lower-limb surgery, with progression based on function, capacity and the demands you need to return to.

Knee or lower-limb symptoms

For pain, weakness, stiffness or reduced confidence affecting the knee, hip, calf or wider lower limb.

One clinic · connected care

Physiotherapy within a specialist lower-limb team

Most physiotherapy problems can be assessed and managed through physiotherapy alone. When a problem needs a different perspective, STEPS can bring in specialist foot and ankle assessment, diagnostic ultrasound, podiatry or gait analysis where that is clinically useful.

The aim is not more testing. It is getting the right information and the right rehabilitation pathway for the problem in front of us.

Assessment first. Rehabilitation built around the findings and your goals.

Your rehabilitation pathway

From assessment to confident return

01

Understand

Your symptoms, history, surgery or injury, current limitations and what you want to return to.

02

Assess

Relevant movement, strength, joint function, functional tasks and the factors most likely to be limiting recovery.

03

Rebuild

Progressive rehabilitation to restore strength, mobility, control and tolerance for everyday and sporting demands.

04

Progress

Exercises and activity are advanced as capacity improves, rather than stopping when pain simply settles.

05

Return

Build confidence for work, walking, running, training or sport with a clear plan for ongoing self-management.

Treatment & rehabilitation

Rehabilitation matched to the demands of your life

The treatment plan depends on what the assessment identifies and what you need to be able to do again.

Hands-on treatment when useful

Manual treatment can be used where appropriate, but sits within a wider active rehabilitation plan rather than replacing it.

Return to sport & activity

Rehabilitation can progress towards running, sport, work or other activity-specific demands rather than ending at basic symptom relief.

Access to wider assessment

Diagnostic ultrasound, 3D gait analysis, sports podiatry or onward referral can be considered if the findings suggest they may add useful information.

EMJoining 14 November

Physiotherapy & rehabilitation

Ellen Moore

Senior Physiotherapist

Ellen joins STEPS on 14 November 2026 to lead physiotherapy and rehabilitation for sports injuries, post-surgery recovery and knee and lower-limb problems.

Her service sits alongside the clinic’s existing sports podiatry, diagnostic ultrasound and gait-analysis pathways, allowing patients to move between disciplines when the clinical findings make that useful.

Frequently asked questions

Physiotherapy at STEPS

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. If medical review, imaging or another specialist opinion is more appropriate, this will be discussed with you.

Which physiotherapy appointment should I choose?

Choose Physiotherapy Assessment for general pain, injuries, movement difficulties or if you are unsure where to start. Running & Sports Injury Assessment is for sport or exercise-related injuries, Post-Surgery Rehabilitation Assessment is for recovery following an operation, and Knee & Lower Limb Assessment is for more specific lower-limb problems. All options are initial assessments with Ellen.

Can I attend after foot or ankle surgery?

Yes. Post-surgery rehabilitation includes foot and ankle surgery as well as Achilles repair, fracture fixation and common knee or hip procedures.

Will I need gait analysis or ultrasound?

Usually not. These are separate specialist tools and are considered only where the assessment suggests they may add useful information or change management.

Is this only for athletes?

No. Physiotherapy is for anyone whose pain, injury, surgery or reduced function is limiting the activities that matter to them.
