Detailed clinical assessment for persistent pain, injury, instability and complex foot or ankle problems, with diagnostic foot & ankle ultrasound available where clinically appropriate.
Choose your assessment
Choose a specialist assessment, with or without time reserved for diagnostic ultrasound.
Comprehensive clinical assessment
A detailed consultation and focused examination designed to establish a working diagnosis and agree the most appropriate next step.
Assessment with focused imaging
45 minutes. A specialist foot & ankle assessment with diagnostic ultrasound of the suspected injury or affected area.
Diagnostic Foot & Ankle Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound can provide real-time information about selected tendons, the plantar fascia, joints and superficial soft tissues. Your clinical assessment determines whether scanning is useful. Not every foot or ankle problem requires ultrasound.

The appointment is designed to move beyond a symptom label and develop a clinically reasoned working diagnosis.
We discuss your symptoms, activity, previous injuries and treatment history, alongside your recovery goals — whether that means everyday activity, walking, running or returning to sport.
Clinical and special tests are selected according to the structures and conditions suspected.
You receive a clear explanation of findings and the most sensible treatment or investigation route.
Conditions assessed
Your treatment pathway
Further investigation or treatment is recommended only where it is likely to add useful clinical value.
A real-time scan of the painful or injured area to help understand your symptoms and guide the next step.
Walking or running analysis with whole-lower-limb testing where broader movement factors need investigation.
A treatment option for selected persistent tendon and plantar heel conditions.
Targeted rehabilitation, footwear advice, gait retraining or onward referral where required.
When a wider view is needed
For selected sporting, walking or persistent movement-related problems, our Functional 3D Gait Assessment provides a wider view of the lower limb, combining objective walking or running analysis with clinically relevant strength, dynamometry and mobility testing.
Your clinician
Tim’s clinical work focuses on persistent and sports-related foot and ankle problems, combining clinical examination, movement analysis and diagnostic ultrasound.
